MOECO provides financial support in southern Vietnam

Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Ltd. (MOECO) announces that MOECO and its partners of an offshore gas development and pipeline project in Vietnam, Chevron Vietnam Ltd. (Chevron) and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company (PTTEP), have resolved to donate $150,000 (MOECO's share $46,140) to the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) and $25,000 (MOECO's share $7,690) to Habitat for Humanity International in Vietnam (HFHI-V).
MOECO, Chevron and PTTEP will collaborate with NFVC to upgrade five school facilities and fund 825 scholarships for underprivileged children in the southern Vietnamese provinces of Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu and Hau Giang, and in Can Tho City. They will also support HFHI-V's project of providing micro-loans to approximately 39 households and building three friendship houses for underprivileged communities in Kien Giang Province. MOECO has donated to NFVC and HFHI-V for two years and will continue to assist their activities for the future development of Vietnam.
National Fund For Vietnamese Children (NFVC)
The National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) was formed in 1992 under the Law on Protection and Care of Children. The principle goals and objective of the NFVC are to make full use of all resources to realize specific goals of the National Action Program for Vietnamese Children, in which special priorities are given to poor, disadvantaged children and disabled children.
Habitat for Humanity International in Vietnam (HFHI-V)
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a nongovernmental shelter organization currently working in over 90 countries. Habitat for Humanity Vietnam (HFHV) is a part of HFHI and began operations in January 2001 providing low cost housing, water and sanitation solutions to marginalised households. To date HFHV has served over 7,400 families via a mixture of new houses and water and sanitation facilities, repairs/upgrades, assistance with obtaining secure tenure and technical support. HFHV aims to ensure "a world where everyone has a decent place to live."
